Leaflet distribution SE5
Table of Contents
Introduction
SE5 is a fairly large postcode in south London covering the areas of Camberwell and Denmark Hill. It can be seen as being split into five separate parts by Camberwell New Road, Coldharbour Lane, Camberwell Road, Peckham Road and Denmark Hill all meeting in the centre of the postcode by Camberwell Green.
SE5 is mostly a residential area with a few busy high streets. The residential part of the postcode is a mix of terraced housing, large townhouses, detached homes but also blocks of flats and some local authority housing like the Crawford Estate and Elmington Estate.
Camberwell and Denmark Hill have a good number of green areas for the locals to enjoy. The already mentioned Camberwell Green, Myatt’s Fields, Ruskin Park, Brunswick Park, Lucas Gardens and the rather large Burgess Park located north of Southampton Way can all be found within the postcode’s border.
The locals here have access to the Overground, Thameslink and Southeastern services via Denmark Hill station. Outside of that, a lot of the public transport links here are taken care of by a busy network of buses. The nearest Underground station is Oval on the Northern Line, located just past the north western corner of SE5.
Camberwell
The area of Camberwell covers a large part of SE5. In order to break it down, we can look at it in sections, divided by the large roads mentioned above.
The Southwestern corner
The southwestern part of Camberwell between Coldharbour Lane and Camberwell New Road is largely made up of a few different types of terraced houses, largely Victorian in style.
These tend to be deliverable and as such make good ground for leaflet distribution.
With that said, there is some local authority housing in this area as well. Crawford Estate being a good example of this. Council estates like the Crawford Estate tend to be excluded from traditional door to door campaigns due to difficulties with access.
However, they can sometimes be delivered to in a more targeted way. If you are interested in this, see our page on council leaflet distribution.
Camberwell New Road is an interesting case in itself. It is a large busy road that has some businesses on it but also a substantial number of deliverable households in large Georgian and Victorian townhouses and terraced homes.
The Northwestern corner
The northwestern section of SE5 between Camberwell New Road and Camberwell Road is also a largely residential area. However, many of the households here are located in larger blocks of flats and some local authority housing.
As such, most of these households are not accessible to leaflet distributors doing standard door to door deliveries. Only the northernmost part of this area around Grosvenor Terrace is again made up of more terraced and detached houses with accessible letterboxes.
The Northeastern corner
The northeastern section of SE5 between Camberwell Road and Peckham Road provides a full-on mix of traditional terraced houses with accessible letterboxes and a few different types of inaccessible blocks of flats.
If you are looking to run leaflet distribution in this part of the postcode, it might be worth discussing the systems your delivery company uses to distinguish between deliverable and non-deliverable addresses as they are quite intertwined here. Elmington Estate is a good example of this.
Burgess Park is located in this part of Camberwell just north of Southampton Way.
Denmark Hill
Denmark Hill is another leafy residential part of SE5. It has some of the most clearly laid out streets of largely Victorian terraced houses with only a few blocks of flats. These are largely located near Denmark Hill station. Ruskin Park and King’s College Hospital are also located here.
Overall, Denmark Hill is one of the better parts of SE5 for leaflet distribution as the way it’s put together makes it quite easy for leaflet distributors to navigate.
