Leaflet distribution in difficult areas

The importance of hiring a competent leaflet distribution company comes into play especially when running campaigns in areas with challenging terrain. There are multiple variables that can make delivering leaflets a difficult job. Some of the more impactful are

1. Difficult terrain

Some areas of London (Like Highgate for example) are built on rather hilly terrain. Others might have a dozen stairs leading up to each front door with a letterbox.
If a distributor that is actually physically delivering the leaflets on daily basis is not familiar with the terrain he or she might get frustrated in the process of distributing. This might negatively affect the quality of distribution. We at The Private Postman make sure to not only study each part of London that is relevant to us but also inform our workers on exactly what they will encounter on their daily drops.
If the conditions on the ground are challenging we make sure to increase their pay to reflect this which makes sure that our workers are ready for any challenges ahead of them and understand that they are getting rewarded for their extra effort.

2. Many council buildings, businesses and large apartment buildings

Some areas in London have a large concentrations of hard-to or impossible-to deliver buildings.
We choose not to distribute to Council buildings and businesses since most of our regular clients do not want to target these places. Large apartment buildings also pose a challenge since in a considerable number of them any leaflet distributor will be at the mercy of a concierge.
We train our people to negotiate access whenever possible, to be polite and make an effort to deliver to all households in a given area.
We however know that this might not be possible in some places and based on experience we know what percentage of households might not receive a leaflet for reasons outside of our control. This is included in our distribution numbers and that way we make sure to not waste any of our clients leaflets.

3. Remote areas

Managing the worker’s commuting time is something that many companies in this line of business don’t pay attention to.
A worker that is based in South London might struggle properly completing a distribution round in N6 for example. We at The Private Postman take great care to ensure that all of our workers get work in or as close as possible to their residence.
This will ensure that they do not spend a large proportion of their earnings on travel and that they know the area they will be distributing in well.
This in turn produces great results since the actual work on the ground is done by people that are not frustrated with long and expensive commutes to unfamiliar areas.
