How to get your Flyers Displayed in Shops?

Arranging for flyers to be put into in local shops is something that we get asked about regularly.

Even though we specialise in door to door leaflet distribution – flyers displayed in shops are something we have a good amount of experience with.

There are multiple things one needs to keep in mind when using this technique though.

The context matters

We all know that if done carelessly flyers displayed in shops can be a waste. However when they are properly contextualised they can be a great tool for promotion.

If you run an organic coffee roastery arranging for a small stack of your leaflets to be placed in a local bistro in SW6 can be a powerful way to acquire customers.

On the other hand placing the same leaflets in Homebase in a less affluent area will not work.

This may seem obvious but for some reason many people care too much about the numbers of leaflets they can get out into the world and not enough about targeting.

Targeting, well-thought through design and demographics are the way leaflet distribution is done nowadays and flyer displays are no different.

We have a specialist system that can deliver your leaflets and flyers into London: shops, hotels, pubs, clubs, libraries and public places.

Costs are quite a bit higher than door to door leaflet distribution but it is possible to place stock in all of these locations with our systems.

How to make your flyers displayed in shops successful?

1. Design – Your design needs to be able to communicate your message and branding from six feet away.

The design techniques here will be similar to standard leaflets for door to door leaflet distribution.

If you can’t tell what your leaflets is selling in one second from a considerable distance it needs some changes.

Eye-catching colours that are on the other hand not intrusive, a single messages per side and spacious fresh design are the way to go.

We offer free design consultations to all our customers and can help with either slightly tweaking your existing design or building a new one from the ground up.

To find out more about our thoughts on design see this article on our site.

2. Format – The format of your leaflet has a lot to do with how people interact with it. This is especially true if you have your flyers displayed in shops.

For standard deliveries we tend to lean towards an A4, A5 or DL formats. This would apply here also.

However multi-page or folded leaflets tend to work better in flyer displays since they engage the potential customer. Based on our research a customer will spend twice as much time with a leaflet if it features a gate-fold or z-fold compared to a single page leaflet.

This applies only in flyer displays and not necessarily in door to door leaflet distribution. We have a close relationship with some of the best and biggest printing houses in the UK and as such we can help you get very competitive prices on a variety of formats and folds.

3. Placement – As we’ve explained above where the leaflets are placed is ultimately what will determine the success of this technique.

We have an extensive network of local shops and businesses that we can draw upon when deciding where your leaflets should be placed.

We make sure to reflect the demographic make-up of your customer base and the geographical location you should be targeting.
