What are the inner workings of leaflet distribution part 5

We’ve arrived at the final instalment of our discussion about what are the inner workings of leaflet distribution in London. We’ve discussed everything from designing of the leaflet, deciding where to deliver you leaflets, how to use a mapping system to which demographics you should target.

We’ve also touched on some of our internal systems like GPS tracking and our evolving mapping systems. Today we will talk about one of the most fundamental elements of any leaflet distribution campaign not only in London. The people that will deliver your leaflets.

The Distributors

What are the inner workings of leaflet distribution part 5

Our founder and MD Mark Redmond is an ex-Royal mail postman and as such the experience from tens of thousands of deliveries in a very efficient system has been a part of our training and deliveries.

Since the beginning of the company until now every distributor that has worked with us has been trained by Mark to a high standard. Many of the leaflet distribution companies out there tend to use staff from agencies or have a high turnover in their workforce.

That is not the case with The Private Postman. We focus on the quality of people we work with first and foremost. Our team is mostly built from people with families, ex-Royal Mail postmen, mothers with young children who want to work but not devote their whole day to a career.

Our distributors are responsible people who want to be with us and care about their job.

Training

The people who need to know what are the inner workings of leaflet distribution in London the best are people that are actually delivering the leaflets. Here are some of the principles we adhere to and that every distributor at The Private Postman knows.

Rain

We never deliver your leaflets in the rain. This can be a challenge as London is famous for it’s weather but it is almost a guarantee that if it is raining your leaflets will be delivered damaged. Soaking we leaflets do not get you clients and that’s why we do not deliver in the rain

Folding

We never fold leaflets when delivering unless it is absolutely necessary. We tend to advise our clients on what formats they should print their leaflets to minimise damage in distribution and this includes eliminating the need to fold leaflets.

Reasonable workload

We have limits on the amount of work a distributor can do in a day. Even the most conscientious person will start making mistakes after hours of deliveries. Physical fatigue is a factor and we try to minimise this in our system.

We are able to deliver millions of leaflets every month without overloading our distributors and allowing them to work at a tempo that allows them to do a good job.

Working locally

What are the inner workings of leaflet distribution part 5

We try to get our distributors to work as locally to their residence as possible. We have Private Postman that live all over London. This way we can combine the knowledge of a given area we have with a local. This gives us a great understanding of London from our Central Office all the way to each distributor.

On top of this we are minimising the time our Private Postmen have to travel to start their deliveries increasing the amount of money they make per hour.
